Small Group Study: Holy Spirit

In my experience, church people really don't understand who the Holy Spirit is. They either believe he is a quiet librarian that only inspired Scripture and is very silent now, or is a bundle of super ecstatic emotions. As per my custom, I'd rather look at Scripture. See below for a small group study that I wrote a few years back. It is meant to be divided between 4 smaller groups (1-3 people) within a small group. They read the verses, answer the questions and report back to the group. It is very basic, but powerful.

Name 3 things the Holy Spirit does according to Jesus’ words in these passages:

John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:7-8, John 16:13-14

What are the common themes in the following passages? How important are these things that the Spirit provides?

A. 2 Corinthians 1:22 and 2 Corinthians 5:5

B. Romans 8:16, Galatians 4:6, Ephesians 2:18

What is the feeling/theme you get from reading these verses? 

Matthew 12:31, Acts 5:1-5, Acts 8:18-23

What are some of the aspects of the Holy Spirit’s ministry in the following verses?
